Neck Bands

Neck bands (Platysma cords)
Pronounced neck bands can draw the eye, particularly on animation (when talking and expressing).
The skin on the neck is fine and the platysma muscle forms a sheet just beneath, which draws downwards. As we age, the downward pulling muscles of the face and neck become stronger.
As the motion of the platysma muscle becomes overactive, it often produces prominent cords, which may be relaxed by injecting Botox into them.
The result is a smoother appearance as the bands soften and settle over the course of the following two weeks.
The downward pull released, a subtle lift is enabled.

The Process
1. Muscle Engagement
The patient is asked to engage their neck muscles, which makes the neck bands more prominent, allowing us to accurately identify the areas for treatment.
Using micro needles, Botox is injected directly into the prominent neck bands typically over 4-6 injection points per band
2. Botox Injection
Frequently asked questions

Full effects are visible at:
14 days for upper and lower face Botox.
6 weeks for facial slimming.
-
Botox may initially reduce muscle activity, causing a “frozen” feeling. This usually softens over time, giving a more natural effect.
-
Avoid facials, massages, or facial treatments for 2 weeks after Botox to prevent the risk of the product moving to non-target muscles.
-
Botox can cause some muscles to relax at different rates, especially in the forehead. This can lead to certain areas being more active than others initially, but this will settle down.
