Polynucleotides

From £400

First harnessed for second-and third-degree burns, to aid tissue healing, Polynucleotides (PN’s) have gained a firm footing in the field of medical aesthetics. They sit in the arena of “regenerative medicine” as they stimulate and boost the skin cycle, reversing skin aging.

They may be used on the face, eyes, neck, hands, decolletage, knees – in fact anywhere, where the skin requires a boost.

When we’re in our 20s, we enjoy a skin cycle that is approximately three weeks in length, with an abundance of Type 1 (“good”) collagen produced as the cycle fires up again. The decades that follow see that skin cycle slow to six weeks, when we must wait for the cells’ protracted death, before a new batch of aging collagen is formed.

This diminishing return directly impacts skin quality - thinning of the skin with the visibility of vessels, fine-lines and “sag”, hyper pigmentation, and Rosacea.

Polynucleotides are protein derivatives of DNA, extracted and purified from wild Salmon spermatozoa. The end product is a pure, injectable gel. When injected into a specific area (such as the eyes or face) PN’s stimulate growth factors (namely fibroblasts, osteoblasts, endothelial cells and lymphocytes.) This leads to the synthesis of collagen and elastin and stimulates new blood vessels (angiogenesis), that aids in tissue regeneration. PN’s also reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which have an anti-inflammatory effect on the tissue. In combination, this process results in plumper and healthier tissue / clearer skin.

Benefits:

  • An alternative for those who don’t need, desire or respond well to Hyaluronic acid filler.

  • Boosting skin health with a youthful texture and tone.

  • Positive impact on pigmentation and Rosacea.

  • Subtle volume by way of your own collagen.

  • They may be used in conjunction with filler and may well lessen the need for filler.

2-3 treatments are usually required on any indicated area, approximately 3 weeks apart. This is then maintained around 6-8 months. The full effects of Polynucleotides are seen around 30 days prior to the last treatment.

The Process

The skin is numbed and then sterilised. Polynucleotides are injected either as small deposits that diffuse within the skin or via a cannula. You may experience a mild stinging sensation, but this passes quickly.

1. Polynucleotide Injection

The product may be palpable for 1-3 days but soon diffuses and softens off completely. When injected as a mesotherapy technique around the eyes or neck, tiny deposits of product are visible for a approximately 3 days. The skin is stimulated to produce collagen and elastin over the course of 3-4 weeks. There may be an element of swelling, but this settles quickly.
